HISTORY

The
Word of God Christian Ministries Church began in 1993 by
the leading of the Holy Spirit. The founder and Senior
Pastor, Michel Gray, began this work on a Wednesday
Night at his home. Pastor Gray and his wife Lisa started
a bible study in their living room. The membership
started with Pastor Gray, First Lady Lisa and their
infant daughter Tiffany. Next they renovated their
one-car garage into a Sanctuary where the first worship
service began on October 23, 1993.
There was no media blitz to
announce the founding of the new church movement, just a
few personal invites and word of mouth. As we began to
win and nurture souls into the Kingdom of God, there was
a great need to expand.
The
church moved from that Sanctuary to an office building
in 1994, located at 154 Valley Hill Road, Riverdale,
Georgia. Later the church moved to The Day’s Inn Meeting
Room, located at Old Dixie Highway, Forest Park,
Georgia. As Pastor Gray remained faithful to His call,
the Lord manifested the vision written for this
ministry.
In
April of 2000, the church was able to purchase a 10-acre
wooded lot with a beautiful ranch nestled on top of the
hill. This location offers
plenteous space and is in an accessible location for
spreading the Word of God throughout the community.
Immediately, the ranch was converted into a
sanctuary to accommodate our growing membership for
worship services. God has sustained His Work. God has
remained faithful. Pastor Gray has shown monumental
courage as well as bold and innovative leadership in
fostering programs and ministries that is manifesting
the Vision of The Word of God Christian Ministries.
After five years, The Word of God Christian Ministries
was victorious in having favor with the Clayton County
Zoning Board. God said it is done! In August of 2005 we
completed our 20,000 square ft. sanctuary with gym;
located at 1207 McDonough Road in Hampton, GA.
Those
initial home gatherings grew to become what now is known
as The Word of God Christian Ministries Church. God has
truly blessed our church by giving us a pastor with
Vision, running with endurance the race set before him
and looking unto Jesus.
